More Thoughts on a 10,000-Image Memory System

I’ve been thinking more about how a 10,000 image system could be constructed. Here are thoughts on how I might be able to convert my current system into 10,000+ images if I were to do it. (Update: see the newer post on brainstorming a 10,000 image system which includes the structure of all 10,144 images.)

Right now, ♠ = 0, = 4, = 1, and ♣ = 7. The phonetic key is here [PDF].

So the card names would be:

A♠ = TO
2♠ = NO
3♠ = MO
4♠ = RO
5♠ = LO
6♠ = BO
7♠ = KO
8♠ = FO
9♠ = PO
10♠ = SO
J♠ = JO
Q♠ = GO
K♠ = DO
A♥ = TA
2♥ = NA
3♥ = MA
4♥ = RA
5♥ = LA
6♥ = BA
7♥ = KA
8♥ = FA
9♥ = PA
10♥ = SA
J♥ = JA
Q♥ = GA
K♥ = DA
A♦ = TI
2♦ = NI
3♦ =MI
4♦ = RI
5♦ = LI
6♦ = BI
7♦ = KI
8♦ = FI
9♦ = PI
10♦ = SI
J♦ = JI
Q♦ = GI
K♦ = DI
A♣ = TE
2♣ = NE
3♣ = ME
4♣ = RE
5♣ = LE
6♣ = BE
7♣ = KE
8♣ = FE
9♣ = PE
10♣ =SE
J♣ = JE
Q♣ = GE
K♣ = DE

Examples:

A♠ 2♠ = TONO = 1020
2♥ 2♣ = NANE = 2427
5♥ J♦ = LAJI (no decimal equivelent for face cards)
Q♥ 7♣ = GAKE (no decimal equivelent for face cards)

There would be no diphthongs in the cards, making the faster to pronounce.

Currently, the words for those cards are:

A♠ 2♠ = SIN = 012
2♥ 2♣ = FUN = 822
5♥ J♦ = PAIJ (no decimal equivelent for face cards)
Q♥ 7♣ = FORK (no decimal equivelent for face cards)

There would be 10,000 images for decimals, plus an extra 200+ for face cards and some of the binaries. E.g., if chunking in 15, 1111 has no equivalent between 0-9. I read it as “d”.

I like the idea but the amount of work involved would be huge.

Would it be worth it? Any ideas on how to make the binaries work well when chunked in 15?
0000-0000-0000-000 = SOSO
0001-0001-0001-001 = TITI
1111-0111-1111-111 = DEDE

12 would be easier for building images, but seems like it would also make it easier to lose track of the location if attention drifts for a moment, because there are 30 binary digits to a row. (001-101-010-000 = 1520 = TAINO)

Another idea is to keep doing binaries in 10 by ignoring the final vowel. 0101-100-000 could match up with 5402 or “LASU”.

EDIT: hacked together a quick script to generate the system here. It is a very large file, so if you’re on a small device, like a phone, it may crash your browser. It looks too complicated if I ever want to finish, but interesting. I did use these pronunciations for all of my one-card images though.
