The French Republican Calendar and Day Images

I recently came across and interesting historical calendar called the French Republican Calendar. It was an 18th Century attempt to create a decimal-based calendar. The interesting part of the calendar from a memory techniques point of view is that every day of the year had a unique name like “grape”, “saffron”, and “chestnut”.

Contextual Interference Effect for Improved Motor Memory

I finally picked up a copy of the book, Mind Hacks by Tom Stafford and Matt Webb. I was flipping through it at the bookstore and saw and interesting “hack” called “Change Context to Build Robust Memories” (#86). It caught my eye, because it might have some application to learning motor skills like martial arts.
